System and global settings

Set these before you rely on the catalog or on orders: store identity, payments, mail, currency and languages, then tax.

Store identity

Open System → Site Settings for the public name, tagline, and Site URL.

The Site URL is the address written into the sitemap, canonical and social tags, and links inside system emails. It does not turn the store on or off. While a custom domain is still propagating, the store stays reachable at the Amplify address. Set the Site URL to the public address you want customers and search engines to see. If it is left empty, generated links fall back to a built-in default, so email links will be wrong until you save the real URL.

System → Email Settings → Sender is the from-name and from-address on order mail and other customer messages.

Payments

Open System → Payment Settings. A channel that is off stays hidden at checkout. Save at the bottom of the page after you edit a channel.

ChannelWhat to enter
StripeTurn it on, paste test keys first (pk_test_ / sk_test_), then switch to Live and paste live keys. Checkout embeds the card form. Copy the webhook URL into Stripe for checkout.session.completed, and paste the webhook signing secret.
PayPalTurn it on, paste Sandbox Client ID and Secret, then switch to Live. Checkout shows PayPal buttons. Copy the webhook URL into PayPal for CHECKOUT.ORDER.APPROVED and PAYMENT.CAPTURE.COMPLETED, and paste the Webhook ID.
MockA test channel. One click marks the order paid. Turn it off before the store is live.

Mail

Transactional mail and the shop mailbox use a normal mail host. You still create that mailbox with your email provider. After it is connected, you read and write it from the admin.

DirectionWhereWhat it does
OutboundEmail Settings → SMTPSends sign-up, password reset, order updates, and mail you compose. Common ports are 465 (SSL) and 587 (STARTTLS). Use the mailbox SMTP or app password.
InboundEmail Settings → IMAPPolls the same mailbox into Support → Email Inbox. It uses the same username and password as SMTP.
Order mailEmail Settings → Order emailsTurns status emails on or off, and chooses which statuses send one.

Support → Compose Email, Email Inbox, and Email Outbox are the mailbox inside the admin. After SMTP is saved, send yourself a test from Compose Email before you rely on it.

Currency and languages

One currency applies to list prices, the cart, checkout, and orders. Open System → Currency & tax and choose USD, EUR, or HKD. Those are the only store currencies. Stripe or PayPal must support the one you pick.

Guest checkout sits on the same screen. It is off until you turn it on. When it is on, a shopper can order with an email address and a link in the confirmation mail, without an account.

Languages are separate. This kit installs seven: English (en), Traditional Chinese (hk, content key zh-TW), Japanese (jp / ja), Korean (kr / ko), German (de), French (fr), and Spanish (es).

Open System → Storefront Languages to choose which of those are public on the storefront, the language switcher, and the sitemap. English stays on. Until you save a custom list, the public set is English, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. German, French, and Spanish stay off until you enable them. The translations themselves stay in the codebase. This screen only shows or hides a language.

Tax

Tax is off until you enable Calculate tax at checkout on Currency & tax.

TaxHow prices work
OffEnter tax-inclusive prices on products. Say so in your shop terms if you need to.
OnProduct prices are treated as tax-exclusive. The percentage is added at checkout, on the merchandise subtotal after order discounts. Shipping is not included in that base. The rate is a number from 0 to 100.
