Promotions and marketing

Three tools cover a sale: a percentage off selected products, an automatic reduction once the cart reaches a threshold, and a code the shopper types at checkout.

Promotion types

TypeWhereHow it works
Product discountsMarketing → Product DiscountsA percentage off the list price, from 1 to 99. You pick products by slug. Every variant of those products uses the discount. The variant's own sale price is left unchanged. The storefront and cart show the campaign price. If two campaigns match, the lower price wins. When the prices are equal, the higher priority wins.
Spend & saveMarketing → Spend & SaveOnce the merchandise subtotal reaches the minimum, the cart takes either a fixed amount or a percentage off. The admin form applies this to the whole order. Shipping is not part of the minimum.
CouponsMarketing → CouponsA signed-in shopper enters one code at checkout. The code is a fixed amount or a percentage, with an optional cap on a percentage. Guest checkout does not keep a code.

Rules

Dates. Each campaign has a start and an end. Outside that window, or with the campaign switched off, it does not apply. A coupon outside its dates looks expired at checkout.

Imported sample campaigns can use startOffsetDays and endOffsetDays. Those are counted from the import time and saved as the start and end dates. Day-to-day campaigns use the date fields in the admin.

Who can use a coupon.

AudienceWho qualifies
PublicAnyone who knows the code.
First orderThe account has no paid order yet.
Assigned usersOnly the people you pick. Assign at least one.

How many times. Leave the total usage limit empty for no site-wide cap. Each person is still limited. The per-user limit defaults to 1. The minimum order, when you set one, is the item subtotal and does not include shipping.

Spend & save and a coupon. Stack with spend & save is on by default. Both can apply. A percentage coupon is then calculated on the amount left after the threshold. Turn the switch off and the coupon is calculated on the original subtotal. The threshold still comes off on its own. One order takes one code.
