Data preparation and import

Typing products, translations, and settings in one by one is slow on a new store. Fatleon includes an import pipeline for a full first load.

Each purchase includes a sample data folder inside the kit archive. It uses the same JSON layout as a full catalog, so you can seed the store and then change anything from the admin. You can also skip the sample and enter everything by hand.

Folder layout

Every pack you select has the same shape. A product pack adds one folder per product.

ItemRule
official-pack.jsonRecords the pack name and the theme. The theme must match this store's officialImportTheme. The sample folder that ships with your purchase already matches. A pack from another theme is rejected.
data.jsonThe records for that step. In a product pack, each product subfolder has its own file.
img/Static images: logos, banners, category art, and main product photos.
detail/Extra images for a long product description. Refer to the filename from the HTML.
Check the files before you import

Preparing the JSON locally lets you review it before it hits the database. A script or an editor pass can catch a product with no category, a tag that does not exist, or a brand that nothing points to, instead of finding those gaps page by page after import. You can also hand the whole pack to an AI assistant. It is well suited to reading every file together and flagging a slug, tag, or image name that does not line up.

Import order

Open System → Import Official Data. Work through the steps in order. Each step reads one folder, and later steps depend on records created earlier.

StepFolderWhat it includes
1site-settings/data.json plus img/ for the logo and favicon. The email block can include SMTP and IMAP (imapEnabled, imapHost, imapPort). The sample pack leaves the store name, public URL, and mail passwords empty so you set those yourself.
2seo-pages/data.json with page title and description templates for each language.
3brandCategories/data.json for brand groups.
4categories/data.json plus img/ for category banners or icons.
5tags/data.json for product and content tags.
6brandsData/data.json plus img/ for brand logos and imagery.
7productData/One subfolder per product, with data.json, main images in img/, and detail images in detail/. Run this before shipping templates so the SKUs exist.
8shipping-templates/Run after products. data.json lists SKUs and optional pickup points. A template that already exists keeps its rates and only binds the SKUs listed in the file. SKUs that are not in the catalog are reported and left unbound. If pickup was already switched off, a later import does not turn it back on.
9blogCategories/data.json plus img/.
10blogPosts/Select the parent folder. Each post is a subfolder with language files (data_*.json) and an img/ folder.
11carousel/data.json plus img/. Every banner must set a locale (en, zh-TW, ja, and so on). One row is one language. title, subtitle, and buttonText can be left out when the words are already in the image.
12blocks/Feature banners. position is BLOCK. One row is one language. A lower sortOrder is shown first: the first two sit side by side, and the third is the wide band.
13placements/Page layout. position is PAGE_HERO, CTA, DRAWER, or WHY_CHOOSE. One row is one language. DRAWER is the image at the top of the mobile menu. For WHY_CHOOSE, sort 0 is the side image and the section title. Sorts 1 to 3 are the three notes: title, description, and an icon.
14promotions/Optional. data.json. Run this after products so an item discount can match product slugs. Dates use startOffsetDays and endOffsetDays counted from the import time, so a sample campaign stays active.

Importing site-settings/ again on a store you have already configured writes the store name, public URL, and logos from that pack over the values you saved. Empty name and URL in the sample pack fall back to the kit defaults, so the demo name and https://live.fatleon.com come back with the demo logos. Skip that folder unless you mean to reset them.

Run an import

  1. Match your folders to the layout above. Start from the sample pack, or build your own.
  2. On Import Official Data, choose the folder for that step and click Start Import. Leave the page open until the step finishes.
  3. After the data is in, open the matching admin screen and edit copy, prices, or settings there. The import is a cold start, not a lock on later edits.

Next step

With the first data in place, continue to System and global settings for the store domain, currencies, taxes, and payment gateways.
